Facility managers oversee the operation of a facility, ensuring its systems, structure, interiors, exteriors, and grounds function efficiently, safely, and in compliance with regulations. They must stay knowledgeable about building systems as operations and maintenance evolve due to wear, new regulations, operational changes, and occupant needs. Managing a facility involves constantly adapting to change. (1 of 4 courses that make up the FMP) –  

 

After you complete this course, you will be able to: 

  • Identify the role of operations and maintenance in FM. 
  • Identify deficiencies in building structures, systems, exteriors, interiors, and grounds, along with related health, safety, security, and environmental risks. 
  • Describe the elements associated with the acquisition, installation, maintenance, operation, and replacement of assets related to facility management. 
  • Outline the process for determining and monitoring occupant service performance expectations. 
  • Detail the steps for developing occupant service specifications, selecting providers, negotiating service level agreements, monitoring performance, and resolving contract disputes.
